when i first heard the news about the horrific school shooting in connecticut, i was walking around target with my mom and a great friend. at that point the details were still sketchy and we hadn’t heard much about it. it wasn’t until we got home and i turned on the news that i found out the severity of it. so many innocent lives were lost yesterday for such a senseless, unknown reason. yesterday, all our problems were quickly put into perspective.
i just like to smile, smiling is my favorite
yesterday i wrote a post about my garden friends and today i am off to enjoy a day full of them. i am off to enjoy a day of shopping (aka talking, laughing, giggling and yummy food) with my mama and two friends. and i can proudly and lovingly say, each of them is someone i consider a garden friend (including my mama). i have to admit, i consider myself an incredibly lucky girl. not only do i have the best friends a girl could ever have but i also have a mama and a husband who i also consider best friends.
have a great day ya’all…and remember to bless someone with your sweet smile today, it might be the only one they see

my garden of friendship
in Luke 22 Jesus takes a few of his most trusted friends to the Garden of Gethsemane to lay down his heart, be honest, raw and vulnerable. the Garden was a place where He felt safe to spill and be transparent. the friends He took along were His “garden friends”.
do you have friends that you would consider garden worthy? would you feel comfortable and safe enough to bring them into your garden? who do you trust with all your heart to be safe and gentle with you? do you nurture those sacred relationships and help them to grow?
i love every single thing about friendship. the newness and excitement of it, surrounding myself with the warm energy of it and having that “sisterhood bond” with other women. i pour my heart into friendships, that’s just the way God made me. i’ve always tried my hardest to be the best, most loyal friend someone could have. i want to not only tell my friends how much i value them, but SHOW them with my actions. my best friends are people i can trust and i want them to know they can trust me too. if i give you the label of “friend”, rest assured you will have a special place in my heart of hearts forever.
genuine friendships are full of selfless love, caring and concern, wanting to see one another grow and a hope for each other to succeed in all aspects of life. they are somewhere you can share thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or negativity. i know there have been many times i’ve told one of my good friends something i’ve done, and i was so thankful they didn’t judge me. in true friendship, unconditional love develops.
i am SO SO thankful for the true friends I have…and if your reading this, you know who you are…thank you for coming into my garden and letting me lay down my heart to you time and time again…for knowing when i was vulnerable…knowing when i needed to vent, when i needed to cry and when i needed a hug…thank you for being you…thank you for never abandoning me and turning away…thank you for giving me a lifelong lasting relationship that I value to the ends of the earth…thank you for simply doing life alongside of me…
out for now
