He heals the brokenhearted

oh, the silent burden and extreme hurt.  the knife stabbing pains of a broken heart.  at one time or another, we’ve all experienced it.  God wants to hold your broken heart in His hands.  He can heal your broken heart, but only if you give Him all the pieces.  the challenge is first finding all of the pieces.  like shards of broken glass, the pieces weave themselves deep into our hearts.  and i’m sure Satan is right there, breaking the pieces smaller and hiding them better.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds
Psalm 147:3

there is a period of time after the initial hurt when the pain literally takes away your ability to breathe.  the pain touches a deep, vulnerable place often known only to God.  when hurting is the only thing you can feel, it is such a lonely place to be.

so many times when we are going through pain, we are told to get over it, move on and let it go.  they don’t understand how slow this hurt heals.  the world offers so many ways to numb the pain, but they are only temporary fixes.  and if we turn to them, then we aren’t allowing God to heal our hurt.  allowing Him to search and heal our hearts is the only true way to have them healed.  only He knows the deepness and complexity of our pain.

In quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it
Isaiah 30:15

don’t suffer through your grief alone.  don’t be unwilling to be vulnerable with God.  and please, even though you are angry, don’t blame God.  give Him your heart, hand it over to Him to search and find all those little pieces of hurt and allow His hands to heal it as only He can.

Search me O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way
Psalm 139:23-24

when it feels like all hope is lost, hand that relationship over to God.  often times the relationship, once it has endured the storm, will come out of it stronger and new.  through all the conversations, all the deepness, you now know each other differently.  this is the blessing of true healing from the hands of God.

HAPPY + BLESSED

once again, God has showered me with his amazing grace and love.  i’ve pulled through yet another long, serious surgery.  i’m so thankful that He has a beautiful, perfect plan for my life.  and now it’s up to me to make sure i’m fulfilling it.
yes, there might have been a few complications.  and yes, maybe i did have a slight stroke.  but i’m here, so obviously God’s not finished writing my story yet ♥ He is in control and i’m so thankful for that.  and we need to give thanks in EVERY situation.
i am so blessed to have the most amazing husband, parents, children, church family and friends.  i love you ALL.  thank you so much for everything!!  seriously  ya’all, so many times over the past week i’ve sat with tears hanging in my eyes overwhelmed with the outpouring of love from everyone.  i feel like the most blessed girl ever  🙂

40 day fast and prayer for marriage

last week, as i was reading unveiled wife, i saw that her and her husband are going to do a 40 day fast and prayer for their marriage.  after a little talk with mr. cutler, we decided it was something we wanted to do as well.

there are two questions she said to ask…
what are you fasting from?
what are you fasting for?
joe and i have decided to keep those decisions private and just shared between our hearts.
here is a little exert from her blog…

when you fast from something, it should be something that would be a challenge for you to give up.  fasting from something is a sacrifice and it represents the sacrifice Jesus made for us dying on the cross for our sins so that we could have eternal life with God.  every time you desire that thing you gave up in the next 40 days, it should remind you to thank Jesus for His sacrifice and it should remind you to pray.

if this is something that super excites you (like it did us), if you feel God is convicting you to do it or something you think you might just want to try, pray about it and do it along with us.  the devil sure is hard on marriages, and gives us so many hard times.  consider and pray about joining us in this fast and pray that God will restore your marriage.  joe and i know first hand how He can wonderfully work miracles!
