july 8 was miss jade’s 10th birthday…we spent the day at delgrosso park (will ALWAYS be blands park to me)…we had a great time there, it turned out to be a gorgeous day.
the kids did the water park and the slides…i did venture into the water park with them and into the water…i saw this awesome tube that was half under water…the kids were just scooting right through it on their bellies…i thought “i can totally do that”. so i get down, go headfirst through and try to “scoot” like the kids were…except my swimsuit stuck to the tube just like velcro…i couldn’t go forward or backward…my butt was hanging out one end of it and the other end joey was trying ot pull me through…i bet we were quite a sight!!!
also while we were there…elderly man in a speedo! ok, that is just WRONG and totally should be against the law…and why is it that you SO SO SO don’t want to look but it’s like a train wreck and you have to look…
the day after jade’s birthday we got up bright and early and got on the interstate…headed to NY! we had a great, fast trip…and i got to finish the last book of the series i was reading (v.c. andrews)…we arrived there right after lunch and checked into our motel. OHMYGOSH…um, hello, condom wrapper right beside the kids bed. of course that caused a big uproar…and lots of explaining. i would have said something to the owner but she was about 110 years old. we made it through our stay there and now we know to NOT stay there again!
that evening we got there we went out for dinner with papa alan to a chinese buffet…the food was so-so, nothing great. and in the middle of the night we found out it was NOT so good…jade got sick (food poisoning i think) and was sick for the next 18 hours…poor girl!!! so we took turns staying in the motel with her while the other went and visited family.
i also went and met my new niece, natalie, on friday…and we had a little photoshoot. she is sooooo precious!!! here are a few of my favs…
friday night jade was well enough to go visit with lois and the family…we had a great time there. saturday was grandmas birthday party. we got to meet family we’ve never met before, it was a GREAT time!!! the kids played with cousins all day, there was awesome food and great conversation..good times!
saturday night the kids went and stayed at papa alans house, which they were totally excited about! then sunday morning joe and i got up first thing and headed over there. we spent the day with them, visiting with grandma pat and uncle jimmy. we had a little cookout there at papas and then headed back to lois’s to take pics of all the grandchildren together.
it was sad leaving monday morning…it’s always odd to me how i feel “at home” down here because i was raised here and it is truly my home but a little piece of me also feels “at home” up there…i wish i could live closer to them…we are planning another trip up probably in october…

we also got to spend LOTS of time with extended family that weekend at camp. we had a great time. the kids got to see some of their cousins that they hadn’t seen for years…they got to go on a hayride…hang out at the barn…and eat lots of good food. out for now~kisses
