Forever Beloved

Faith, Love & Truth

where were you

it’s funny how thinking back to that day you know EXACTLY where you were and what you were doing…i was at work sitting at my desk when a woman came in and said “a plane just hit the world trade center”…at first we all thought it was just a stray plane that wrecked into it…it didn’t take us long to learn differently…soon after we heard of a second plane going into the other building…we all rushed to the only office in the building with a tv…i stood in that office, crammed full of people shoulder to shoulder, and watched as the towers fell…the room was completely silent as people tried to wrap their minds around what was really happening…we then heard of the third plane and we were told they were closing the building…i work for a state agency so they erred on the side of caution and closed the building…

my first thought, once i realized we were under attack, was i wanted my babies in my arms…i wanted them with me so i could protect them…i wanted to hug & kiss them and keep them safe…i wanted to be surrounded by my family and have my husbands safe arms around me…i left work and went straight to pick my kids up from daycare…i took them home and spent the rest of the day snuggling and cuddling…

i was never more proud to be an american than i was that day…that evening we got out our american flag and hung it on our front porch…basically every home or business you drove past had either a flag hanging or a sign showing their support for america…

that day we bonded as a nation…that day we knew, as a nation, that we needed God, we needed prayer and we needed hope…

revive your marriage ♥ {week two}

this weeks challenge is to continue praying for your husband and to revive your attitude…

our dating/engagement/wedding were fast and furious…we dated for two months before we were engaged and two months later we were married (on my dads 60th birthday, cool huh)…my oldest little has MUCH to say about our fast romance…he thinks it’s was totally dumb to rush into something like that, that he’s dated girls longer than we dated and he’s only 15 AND that he will NOT be doing anything like that (which makes me smile, because i would just die if he did something like that)…my poor mama, i bet she felt the same way…but we were young, dumb and in love…

joe sang to me one night when we were dating…the instant he started singing it to me, while looking into my eyes, i started to cry…it was that exact instant that i knew i loved him and that i wanted to spend the rest of my life with him…he says that is the same moment he knew he loved me as well…to this day when i hear this song it instantly takes me back to that night and i get those feelings all over again…and when he sings it to me it still makes me cry…

somehow, in 4 short months, i knew he was my perfectly perfect soul mate and my best friend…the man who could make me laugh by doing nothing…the man who was so opposite of anything i had ever known…there isn’t anyone else i would rather grow old with…he is such an amazing husband and father and i am beyond thankful for him…he can still make me laugh crazy insane amounts or make me catch my breath when i look at him…

many times it’s easy for us to let “life” get in our way and forget those old feelings…the butterflies…the reasons we fell in love.  your vows and your marriage sustain the love.  i challenge you today to revive your marriage and stir up those old feelings.  and let your husband know just how much he means to you.  commit to being the wife you vowed to be.
