Encouragement For Today {Book Review}

Encouragement for Today
Devotions for Everyday Living
By Renee Swope, Lysa TerKeurst, and Samantha Evilsizer

The book description:

Written by the P31 team whose daily devotion reaches over 1 million women every day, this book will help a woman know she is not alone in her every day struggles.

For twenty years the women at Proverbs 31 Ministries has equipped and encouraged nearly a million women to live in the power of God’s truths that apply to every step of life. Here, the Proverbs 31 team offers 100 devotions of wit, wisdom, and encouragement to help women pull away from the things that pull them down and find lasting encouragement for today.

Written by women from every walk of life, readers will find inspiration to live authentically and fully grounded in the Word of God. The P31 Team shares from the realities of everyday life including highs and lows, humorous stories, and tender moments as they draw readers toward the truths God offers.

Hopeful. Down-to-earth. Relevant. Trustworthy. Each day includes Scripture, a devotion, a Reflect, Respond, and Remember, and a Power Verse. Ultimately, women will find comfort in the realization that they are not alone in their day-to-day doubts, disappointments, questions, fears, hopes, dreams, and struggles, and that they will be able to rise above and become all God created them to be.

I was so so so excited to receive this devotional.  I am a huge fan of the Proverbs 31 team and I just adore Lysa TerKeurst.  I could not WAIT to dive into this devotional the day I received it.  Isn’t it so exciting y’all when you’re so excited and the book doesn’t disappoint you?

Each days devotional includes a quick and easy read each day, with a few verses to meditate on, a brief commentary from the author, a reflection question or two, and a call to respond in some way.   The devotions were short enough that even the busiest of mamas could fit it into her schedule. It is written in such a way that you can relate to every single devotional. There is a nugget that you can take away from each one and that is powerful.

This would make for a great gift for a friend or a sweet treat for yourself. I think this is one your going to love!

This book was provided to me free of charge by booksneeze.com in return for my honest review. The opinions i have expressed are my own.

By: Courtney Joseph

Now for my second review…
I must say, even after reading this book for weeks, I’m still completely and utterly in love with it.  When I open the book, I’m always so excited to “sit at the feet” of my mentor and soak in all her wisdom.  As I read through the book, I find myself soaking in the words.  Sometimes reading over a section two or three times just to be sure I savor her advice and lock it in my heart.  Highlighting wisdom I want to read over and over.
The section that is making the biggest impact in my life right now is the “Marriage Challenge”.  I’ll let Courtney explain the challenge in her own words…

It’s a ten-day marriage challenge that is about being intentional as we complete our husbands rather than compete with our husbands. Our husbands are each unique, so this challenge will be about discovering what it is your husband needs. Each of the ten days will include a verse, a thought, a challenge, and an application. Your husband is going to be blown away by your desire to please him over the next ten days!

Courtney’s writing is absolutely beautiful. She is so transparent, honest and shares her heart. She doesn’t write as someone that knows it all, or thinks they are above you, she writes as a sister-in-Christ who has shared the same struggles as you and I.

I absolutely consider Women Living Well one book that every Christian wife and mother should read. And the great news is … Courtney has a wonderful gift she’s providing to everyone who pre-orders her book. It’s a 10 eBook bundle for FREE that you’ll receive when you simply email Courtney a copy of your Amazon receipt (offer available through September 30, 2013).
