Forever Beloved

Faith, Love & Truth

May 30, 2013

a proverbs 31 woman

She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
Proverbs 31:20

this weeks Proverbs 31 post is coming a day early as i have a very special post to make tomorrow.  in this verse, we see a lady who has definite concern for the less fortunate.

this God-loving woman isn’t so busy in life that she can’t stop and help someone who is hurting or someone not as fortunate as her.  she isn’t ever covetousness.  she can always see a need because she isn’t focused on only herself.  it’s so easy for us to just get caught up in life and put blinders on to those around you.  we are to be so focused on Jesus that He gives us the strength to live our lives to His glory.

Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.
Matthew 22:37-39

it’s so important for us to learn to have a servants heart.  after all, Jesus did say the second greatest commandment was to love your neighbors.  reaching out to others, being the hands and feet of Jesus, is one of the greatest callings we have in our faith. not only does it show the love of Christ for the world, it’s also an opportunity for us to worship God and for us to grow more like Jesus.  i not only think it’s important for us to have a servants heart, but to also model this for our littles.

so this week, be kind, thoughtful and compassionate.  serve your husband, family, friends and neighbors with a gentle and loving spirit.  look to the needs of others before you satisfy your own wants.
A generous person will prosper;whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
Proverbs 11:25
out for now
